The Saint Peter’s University Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) online program is designed for registered nurses who hold a nursing diploma or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited program.

This online program prepares students for professional practice and leadership roles in various healthcare settings. The curriculum includes courses in professional nursing, health assessment, pathophysiology, community health nursing, and leadership and management in nursing. The program can be completed in two (2) years and offers flexible online learning options to accommodate working professionals. Saint Peter’s University’s RN to BSN program emphasizes whole-person healthcare and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Students in the Saint Peter’s University RN to BSN program take a variety of courses to complete the program. Additionally, students complete core requirements in the humanities, social and natural sciences, and ethics.

Program Details

Transfer Credits

Applicants who have earned their nursing diploma and/or associate nursing degree will have up to 30 credits in basic nursing transferred in to satisfy the Lower Division Nursing requirement. These credits will be transferred in in addition to the required science courses, regardless of date taken, as long as they were taken for college credit and grades of at least a C earned for these courses. Up to 60 credits from below will be transferred in to apply toward the bachelor’s degree.

Note:

NU-416 Social Justice, Ethics & Health Care (3 Credits, values and pluralism) and NU-470 Dimensions-Professional Nursing (4 Credits) are required for the traditional BSN. For the RN to BSN requirements provided in the catalog, students may take 3 free elective credits to reach 120. The free elective could be replaced with NU-416 for example, but it would need approval from the Nursing Program.

* Please note that program requirements and the number of credits needed to complete the Saint Peter’s University RN to BSN program may vary for students based on the transfer credits they bring in from previous educational institutions. The sample pacing schedule above applies to the maximum number of transfer credits (60); if fewer than 60 credits are transferred, additional courses would be required to achieve 120 credits required for a baccalaureate degree. Each student will receive individual consultation with an academic advisor to determine how their transfer credits will be applied and to create a personalized plan of study.

Application Requirements

The prospective student must submit the following

  1. Letter of recommendation
  2. Personal essay
  3. High School Diploma/Equivalency
  4. Transcript indicating previously earned college credits
  5. Minimum GPA of 3.0
  6. Current RN license
  7. Copy of malpractice insurance

*Provisional admission decision can be made based on unofficial copies of transcripts, but official versions must be received in order to be fully admitted to the program.
